Pi Sigma Alpha offers exclusive member benefits to help you stand out, connect with other political science majors, and succeed in your future or current career path. As Pi Sigma Alpha continues to grow and prosper, the scope of member benefits may expand to provide even more resources for our student and alumni members.
Pi Sigma Alpha members only pay a one-time fee to join. The $35 membership fee is one of the lowest of any honors society in the country.
Joining Pi Sigma Alpha is a great way to connect with other students, faculty, and career professionals interested in political science and public policy. Over 300,000 individuals have joined PSA since 1920, including a range of prominent politicians, scholars, and nonprofit and business leaders.
Pi Sigma Alpha provides funding to members and chapters through scholarships for graduate school and internships in Washington, DC, best paper and thesis awards, as well as chapter activity grants.
According to the US Office of Personnel Management, "membership in a national honor society meets one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level in numerous professional and technical occupations in the Federal service." Whereas, college graduates without similar experiences can expect to start at the GS-5 level.
Pi Sigma Alpha undergraduate members are eligible to present their research at the annual Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Research Conference, which connects students, faculty, and career professionals from around the country.
Pi Sigma Alpha chapters give back to their campuses and communities through a range of sponsored events and volunteer activities. In addition, many chapters promote civic engagement through registration and Get-Out-the-Vote drives.
